At one point there weren't enough respawns for me to get back in the game so I just sat and stared at the screen for 15 minutes. The camera is another problem – it zooms out too slowly when players are spread apart, so you'll find yourself off-screen and unable to do anything but die a slow, painful death because you can't see enemies. So make sure your partner is committed to the endeavor or you may wind up screwed.
The game supports four players locally and via Xbox Live, but if someone just wants to try it out they have to wait for a "level complete" screen to get involved and they can't leave until they make it to another one or any new progress goes down the toilet. Still, the worst thing about The Fancy Pants Adventures is its lack of drop-in/drop-out for multiplayer. I liked dealing with enemies a la Mario, but waiting to charge up attacks was a snoozefest. This wouldn't be a problem if it were a minor addition, but Fancy Pants leans heavily on the combat aspect during the final levels of the game.
You can poke at people, use a mid-air attack, or unleash a charged attack, but none of them feel more satisfying than just jumping on a bad guy's head. Whacking people with a candy cane sounds more fun than it actually is. Play FPA with friends for the first time on PSN and XBLA! Featuring 1 – 4 player multiplayer, online and local, and exclusive multiplayer modes.All good things come to an end, though, and midway through the story you'll gain a cane-like weapon, which is when I started getting frustrated.
